Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. He was the youngest son of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on the farm they owned in Eufala. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the United States. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon obtained a degree as a teacher. Fourth service In college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played the all-pro 3 times, and began an entrepreneurial career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the most prominent young men across the nation. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He captained his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
